Questions, answered.
Everything you're wondering before your first Strangers event.
Strangers is a community in Guyana that hosts small, real-life events — picnics, dinners, beach days and more — designed to help young adults meet people outside their usual circle and actually become friends.
You don't have to, but most people do — and it's honestly the best way to meet new people. Our events are built so solo attendees are looked after from the moment they arrive.
It varies by event. Some are free to attend, others have a small ticket price to cover food, drinks or a venue. Every event page lists the cost up front, no surprises.
Mostly around Georgetown and the West Coast of Demerara, with occasional trips further out. Exact locations are sometimes only revealed to ticket holders to keep things intimate.
Whatever makes you feel like you. We don't have a dress code — some events lean dressy, others are barefoot-on-the-sand casual. Check the event details for any specific theme.
Join the community from the come through page and you'll get first access to upcoming events by email. Spots are limited to keep the group size intentional, so we recommend signing up early.
Absolutely. Strangers is rooted in Guyana but open to anyone in town for a visit, a move, or just a season of life. Some of our closest regulars started out as travelers.
We're always looking for hosts, venue partners and community volunteers. Reach out through the contact links on the come through page and tell us how you'd like to help.
